Kathryn Lambert “Gran” Simmons – Obituary

Kathryn Lambert “Gran” Simmons, 86, of Courtland passed away Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at her home. Visitation will be from 2 till 3 p.m. on Sunday, September 2, 2018 at Courtland Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. with Rev. Scotty Letson, Rev. Sam Wallace and Dr. Bill Weems officiating. Burial will be in East Lawrence Memorial Gardens with Lawrence Funeral Home assisting the family.

A graduate of J.U. Blacksher High School in Uriah, AL, Kathryn was a charter member of the McAlley Civic Center. She was also a member of the Courtland Baptist Church and the Joy Sunday School Class.

Survivors include her children, Graydon Simmons (Kathy), Dan Simmons (Susan), and John Simmons (Donna); special daughter, Johnnie Beach; grandchildren, Ed Simmons, Andrew Simmons, IV (Brandy), Autumn Burns (Cody), Katie Griffith (Thomas), and Aleshia Melson (Chad); great-grandchildren, Andrew G. Simmons V, Auburn Grace Simmons, Emory Burns, Kate Orvis, Gray Griffith, Evelyn Griffith, Landry Hooper; brother, Carl Lambert; sister, Ann Ferrell; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Kathryn was preceded in death by her husband, AG “Buddy” Simmons, Jr. two great-grandsons, one great-granddaughter, brother, John Lee Lambert; and sister, Ruth Brooks.

Pallbearers will be Graydon Simmons, III, Dan Simmons, Ed Simmons, John Simmons, Dr. Andrew Simmons, IV, Cody Burns, Chad Melson, John Thomas Griffith, Joe Beach and Boyd Reding. Honorary pallbearers are Buddy Dyar, Lamar Terry, Larry Williams, Rudy McCarley, and former members and friends of the Wheeler Station Hunting Preserve.

The family extends special thanks to Dr. Gladish and the staff of DSI Dialysis of Moulton; Hospice of the Valley, Laurel Jones, RN, Decatur Morgan Health Care, Courtland Baptist Church family and Rev. Scotty Letson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Courtland Baptist Church, PO Box 397, 615 Tennessee Street, Courtland, AL 35618.
