Margarette Anne Hendricks Price – Obituary

Margarette Anne Hendricks Price passed away Monday, August 20 2018. There will be a memorial service at First Baptist Church of Decatur, Stevenson Chapel on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 4 p.m. with Rev. Roger Jenkins officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Marganne, as she was better known, was born March 25, 1944 in Nashville, Tennessee to the late Dr. Willis M. Hendricks and Thelma Louise Harland Hendricks. Shortly after Dr. Hendricks return from Navy duty in 1945, the family moved to LaGrange, Georgia, where she and eight siblings were raised. After graduation from LaGrange High School, she attended Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Georgia, receiving a BA in History.

On June 25, 1966 she married Roy Lane Price also from LaGrange, Georgia. They have known each other for 70 years and were married for 52 years.

Marganne was a Sunday school teacher and Bible study leader wherever she and her family had lived. She was always active in organizations that her children were involved in. She was a loving, kind and generous wife, mother and friend. She loved gardening, sewing, cooking, calligraphy and drawing.

She is survived by her husband Roy Lane Price; four children Shannon Lane Engel (Will) of Ranger, Georgia, Dr. Clayborn W. Price (Julie) of Baltimore, Maryland, Miriam Anne Peterson (Reverend Christopher) of Covington, Kentucky, Thomas H. Price of Decatur: six grandchildren Ellen, Anna, Michael and Louisa Engel, Toby and Soren Peterson; siblings Willis Hendricks, Jr. (Susan) of Tappahanock, Virginia, Dr. Clayborn Hendricks (Amy) of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Cecelia Thornhill (Tom) of Marietta, Georgia, Liza Vaughn (Barry) of Marietta, Georgia, Kyle Levin (Jon) of Charlotte, Virginia, Virginia Lee Tucker of Black Mountain, North Carolina, Dr. Harlan Hendricks (Beth) of Columbus, Georgia and Kathleen Ferry (Don) of Fanwood, New Jersey; numerous nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Gladish, Dr. Boyle, Dr. Basu, Dr. Denny, Dr. Harris, Dr. Soliman, Dr. Soso, Dr. Wang and the nursing staff at Decatur Morgan Hospital Emergency Room and ICU for all the care and dedication shown during the last several months. Hartselle Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family.
