Arlene Charlotte Voigt Stuckey – Obituary

Arlene Charlotte Voigt Stuckey, age 89, of Birmingham, died August 16th, 2018.  Arlene was born is Hanceville, AL to Herman and Theodora Voigt.  Arlene was a faithful member of Shades Valley Lutheran Church for 50 years. After graduating from Sacred Heart Academy in Cullman, she attended St. Vincent’s Nursing School, where she later became an instructor.  She retired from St. Vincent’s with over 40 years of service.

Arlene was preceded in death by her husband James “Jim” Harrison Stuckey, and her brother H.A. “Sonny” Voigt; her granddaughters, Vanessa Alece Petrey and Cynthia Lynn Sanford.  She is survived by her children, Diane Stuckey, James Harrison “Hank” Stuckey, Jr. (Judy), Leesa Stuckey Petrey (Bill), Leslie Stuckey (Lynn), Ted Stuckey (Jenna); her sister, Kathryn Voigt Waters (Leon), her brother, Victor Voigt (Pat); her sister-in-law, Betty Voigt; her grandchildren, Tyra Michelle Sanford Morgan (Clint), James Harrison Stuckey III, Haley Petrey Duncan (Zack), Michael Stuckey (Ashley), Dana Stuckey, Josh Stacey (Leah), Susannah Stuckey Doucet (Michael), Joey Stuckey; her great-grandchildren, Jada Stacey, Ammon Stacey, Landon Stacey.

She was a active member at Shades Valley Lutheran Church, and a member of the “Happy Quilters.”  She was also a tireless advocate for the Myasthenia Gravis Society.  Arlene had an enormous strength; she was selfless, vibrant, active, and alive, and these things will live on through the many lives that she touched.

Visitation will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, August 24, 2017 at Shades Valley Lutheran Church, 720 Shades Creek Parkway, with the funeral service at 11:00 am.  A graveside service at Hopewell Cemetery in Hanceville will follow at 2:00pm.
