FLORENCE-The Florence-Lauderdale Public Library has a plethora of event s scheduled for September.  Here are just a few of the fun,educational and interesting things the library has in store for you:

An Evening With Lisa Patton ($40 ticket)
Monday, September 10, 5:30 pm
Includes dinner and a copy of Lisa’s new book Rush.

Lisa Patton spent over twenty years in the music industry before discovering her passion for novel writing. A breast cancer survivor, Lisa is now the bestselling author of the beloved Dixie series, which includes Whistlin’ Dixie in a Nor’Easter, Yankee Doodle Dixie, and Southern as a Second Language. Born and raised in Memphis, Lisa now lives in Nashville, TN.

Lisa’s new novel, Rush, is set inside a fictional sorority house at Ole Miss. The book provides not only a gaze inside the most exclusive sorority recruitment in the country, but at the relationships between the sisters and the staff.

Spring isn’t the only time to garden! Taylor Reeder of the Alabama Cooperative Extension System will be teaching this year’s fall gardening series. All events are on Thursdays at 11:30 am.

Creek Indian Removal, the Tennessee River, and the Shoals
Sunday, September 9, 2:00 pm
Join us for the first Florence Bicentennial Native American month event. Dr. Chris Haveman from the University of West Alabama will be speaking about the removal of Creek Indians through the Shoals region during the 1830s. Dr. Haveman is a specialist in the history of the Southeastern tribes. He teaches and writes in the areas of American Indian history and the history of the United States from the colonial through the Jacksonian eras. Dr. Haveman holds a Ph.D. from Auburn University.

This event is sponsored by the Muscle Shoals National Heritage Area, the Florence Bicentennial Commitee, Florence-Lauderdale Public Library, and the Florence Indian Mound Museum.
