MATTIE PEARL (MAMA PEARL) TAYLOR

was born on July 18, 1919, in Savannah, Tennessee to Edward and Louise Stephen Tucker, who preceded her in death.

She married James Hollis (Jim Dan) Taylor on December 28, 1934, in Corinth, Mississippi, who preceded her in death on September 7, 2000.

Mattie lived for a time in Chicago, Illinois, before moving back to Savannah. She was employed as a Cook at Dunbar High School and she also worked as a Domestic Worker over the years.

Mattie was a member of the Church of Christ in Savannah, Tennessee.

Mattie departed this life on October 6, 2012, at the age of 93 years, 2 months, and 18 days.

She is survived by four sons, Nathaniel (Ellen) Taylor of Germany, Emmanuel Taylor, Frank Hollis (Carolyn) Taylor and Billy Malcolm (Mary) Taylor, all of Savannah, Tennessee, four daughters, Virginia Taylor of Chicago, Illinois, Mary Catherine (Kenneth) Jordan of Opelika, Alabama, Dorothy Welch of Chicago, Illinois and Shirley Tall of Nashville, Tennessee, a daughter-in-law, Pearl Taylor of Iowa, twenty-seven grandchildren, fifty-five great-grandchildren, and twenty-seven great-great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death, besides her parents, a son, James Edward Taylor, Sr., two brothers, George (Peck) Tucker, and William (Bill) Tucker, three sisters, Ethel Tucker Gillis, Roberta Tucker (Bert) Davis and Zenobia Tucker Taylor, grandparents, Elias and Mahalia Terrell Stephens and Andrew and Melinda B. Ellison Tucker, grandchildren, Daniel and Patty Taylor.
