Faye Hindman Guinn – Obituary

Faye Hindman Guinn, 81, passed away Friday, August 10, 2018, at Southern Magnolia Estates in Golden, MS. She was born in Vina, AL on October 28, 1936.  She graduated from Vina High School in 1954 and earned a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from the University of North Alabama (UNA).  She began her teaching career at Hodges School and also taught at Bear Creek and Rossville, GA before finally settling at Vina High School as a librarian.  She also taught various classes until her retirement in 1998.  She was married to Foy Guinn for 55 years and had three children (Celia, Tim and Neita).

 

She was a member of First Missionary Baptist Church in Hodges, AL where she taught a Sunday School class as well as Vacation Bible School.  She enjoyed teaching, reading, music and spending time with family and friends.

 

Visitation will be Monday, August 13, 3-5 p.m. at First Missionary Baptist Church Hodges, AL with service at 5 p.m. with Bro. Carl McHenry and Bro. Marty Guidry officiating.  Burial will be at Old Line Cemetery in Hodges. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL will be in charge of arrangements.

 

She is survived by her children – Celia Sylvester (Don) Florence, AL, Tim Guinn (Sandy) Russellville, AL and Neita Fannin (Aubrey) New Market, AL; grandsons – Michael Calvo (Nicole) Springfield, TN, Andrew and Avery Guinn, Russellville, AL; one granddaughter – Chloe Fannin, New Market, AL and two great-grandsons – Tristen and Xander Calvo, Springfield, TN.  She leaves behind one sister, Joyce Hindman Baker (Jerry) Tuscumbia, AL as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Foy Guinn; parents, Wiley Swanson and Florence Quinn Hindman and brother, Daniel Clayton Hindman.

 

Pallbearers will be Andrew and Avery Guinn, Michael Calvo, Aubrey Fannin and Don Sylvester.
