Ollie Elizabeth Williams Montgomery – Obituary

Ollie Elizabeth Williams Montgomery, age 92, a long time resident of Columbia, TN, passed away at Maury Regional Medical Center in the early hours of August 11, 2018.

Ollie was born on September 28, 1925 to the late Floyd and Mamie Williams here in Columbia, TN. She worked faithfully at the Maury County Court house for thirty years. She was mostly involved in general sessions. Ollie was naturally gifted; she loved to paint and draw, but especially loved to sing. She was famous for her doodles on any materials from advertisements to napkins. Ollie never met a stranger and if she did… they left a friend. She was a member of The First Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Ollie is survived by two daughters Brenda Montgomery of Columbia and Anita (Randy) Huggins of Semmes, AL; one son Richard (Mary) Montgomery of Fayetteville, TN; four granddaughters Cassie (Clint) Green of Columbia, Allison Montgomery of Seattle, WA, Rebecca (George) Etrata of Richardsville, VA, and Elizabeth (Charles) Smith of Madison, AL; one grandson Christopher Montgomery of Fayetteville, TN; sister Donna (Bob) Brooks of Fairview, TN; three brothers Jim (Nancy) Williams, Doug (Rosanne) Williams both of Columbia, and Dean (Deborah) Williams of Readyville, TN; sister-in-law Betty Williams of Navarre, FL; and special friends Joann Pulliam and Sandy Collins. Her great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews all survive her. Ollie was preceded in death by her husband Vance Montgomery; her two sons Eddie and Kevin Montgomery; her three sisters Pearl Goodlow, Joanne Williams, and Lois Williams; her brothers Bill and Bob Williams.

Services will be held for Ollie on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Monday, August 13 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. also at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials in Ollie’s name be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 38121 or to the Family Center found at 921 S. Beckett Street, Columbia, TN 38401.
