Willard E. Strickland – Obituary

Willard E. Strickland passed away at the age of 91 on Friday, August 10, at the Tishomingo Community Living Center in Iuka, MS. She was a lifelong resident of Tishomingo, MS. She was born on July 23, 1927 to Ancel and Katie Ward Epps. She married John B. Strickland, Sr. on July 26, 1946. She retired from the Iuka Shoe Factory in the early seventies and was a babysitter for many years. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and quilting and she enjoyed visiting with family and friends. She was a member of Liberty Church of Christ.

Services will be Monday, August 13, 2 p.m. at Liberty Church of Christ, Dennis, MS with David Conley and Ron Deaton officiating. Burial will be in Tishomingo City Cemetery, Tishomingo, MS. Deaton Funeral Home, Belmont, MS will be in charge of arrangements.

She is survived by two sons – John B. Strickland, Jr. of Jackson, MS and Gail Strickland of Pogo, AL and Larry Strickland (Johnnie) of Tishomingo, MS; five grandchildren– John David Strickland (Malynda) Murfreesboro, TN, Michelle Hester (Terry) of Pearl, MS; Michael Strickland of Pogo, AL, Katie Bohannon (John) of Belmont, MS and Chad Strickland (April) of Clarksville, MS; thirteen great-grandchildren – Austin, Ethan and Madalyn Strickland, Dale and Laken Hester, Emma Strickland, Klara-Kate Gasaway, Hadley, Reagan and Emmy Bohannon, Kirstyn, Grady and Breelyn Strickland and two sisters – Helen Seibert, Dallas, TX and Martha Young (Billy Ray) Corinth, MS.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a brother, Jerry Ward Epps and two infant brothers.

Pallbearers will be John David Strickland, Michael Strickland, Chad Strickland, John Bohannon, Terry Hester and Dale Hester. Honorary pallbearers will be Don Lee and Jeff Martin.

Visitation will be Sunday, August 12, 6-9 p.m. at Liberty Church of Christ.
