Lisa Diane Williams Ali – Obituary

Lisa Diane Williams Ali, age 61, a resident of Murfreesboro, previously of Columbia, passed away Friday, August 3, 2018 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at 11AM at Heritage Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Maury Memorial Gardens. A visitation will also be held on Tuesday from 10-11AM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Lisa was born on June 30, 1957 at St. Joseph Hospital in Flint, Michigan. She was the daughter of Ivy Donita Sykes Williams and the late Robert Neil Williams. Lisa went from Flint Southwestern High School to the University of Michigan where she majored in Elementary Education. Later she worked as a social worker during the day while teaching adult reading classes at night.

She married Michael Ali and moved with him to Columbia, TN where she worked in the school system. They later moved from Columbia to Murfreesboro, TN.

During her earlier years, she was involved with Junior Achievement. She occasionally volunteered with the 4-H Club and went to Art Camp some summers. She was a member of her high school choir, and she participated in the Flint B&P’s cotillion program.

Lisa enjoyed cooking, doing crossword puzzles, watching old movies, and reading biographies. She was also good with plants.

She is survived by her mother: Ivy Williams of Albany, GA; sister: Tina Maria Williams of Albany, GA; nephew: Brandon Marcus Williams of Albany, GA; uncle: Ted Williams of Los Angeles, CA; and aunt: Evelyn Snyder of Ceres, CA.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Ali on September 28, 2016.
