Anna Lou Schmidt Crider – Obituary

Anna Lou Schmidt Crider, age 86, went to her heavenly father August 7, 2018, The Oaks at Parkwood, Bessemer, AL.  She was born September 21, 1931 to Frederick C. and Bernie Chappell Schmidt in Hanceville, AL.

Ann was actively engaged in her church, St. Paul’s Lutheran, in Decatur, AL and served the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League for many years.  A faithful servant to God, a loving mother and homemaker, Ann enjoyed traveling with her husband, attending plays and was a remarkable cook.  Completely selfless in helping others in need, she made everyone feel welcome and loved in her home.

Ann is survived by her husband of 65 years, Duron Crider, her daughters, Debra Crider Besant (Chris) of Tuscaloosa, AL, and Julie Crider Hucks (Austin) of Tunnel Hill, GA, her son, Darryl Crider (Lesley) of Hoover, AL, seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren, two brothers Donald Schmidt and Carl Schmidt, and three sisters, Dorothy Becker, Evelyn Hays, and Brenda Long.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Bernie Schmidt, three sisters, Earline Doss Schneider, Nellie Brown, and Catherine Wilson, and one brother, Wallace Schmidt.

 

A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, Aug 11, 2018, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Hanceville, AL with Pastor Harry Kretzschmar of St. Paul’s Lutheran and Pastor John Jankens of Trinity Lutheran officiating.  A graveside committal will follow at Hopewell Cemetery in Hanceville, AL.  The family will receive friends from 12 – 2 PM, Saturday, Aug 11, at Trinity Lutheran on Commercial Street.

 

Pallbearers will be Chris Besant, Austin Hucks, Chad Besant, Trent Crider, Nick Donegan, and Anthony Hays.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
