George William Porter, Jr. – Obituary

George William Porter, Jr. , age 90, passed away Sunday, August 5, 2018 at his home in Haleyville. He served in the United States Marines during World War II, was the former owner of Dixie Woodworking, and was a member of First United Methodist Church, Haleyville.

Visitation is Friday, August 10, 2018 from 1:30 – 2:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church-Haleyville, with the service following at 2:00 p.m. at the church. Bo Knight will deliver the eulogy and Mitch Nethery to officiate Burial in Winston Memorial Cemetery.

He is survived by his children, Cindy (John) Morris and Craig (Carolyn) Porter; grandchildren, Jennifer, Joshua, Lily, Audrey and Owen; great grandchildren, Jeremiah and Eric.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Lillian Porter, Sr., and his wife, Edna Frederick Porter.
