Champion race car driver, sports fan, fiancée: These words describe Melissa Gail Cothran. Melissa was the Points Track Champion at Thunder Hill Raceway in 2016, in the Hot Shot Division, never letting the fact that she was one of only a few women in the sport, slow her down. She was the fiancée of Michael Davis for twenty-seven years. She was an Alabama football fan, along with loving the Titans and the Predators. She was a very hard worker, being a dedicated LPN in the Endoscopy Department at Maury Regional Medical Center for twenty-four years. In her spare time, she loved to cook. She attended Spencer Hill Church of Christ. Melissa began her journey in this life on February 28, 1975 to Richard Allen Cothran and Mary Edith Weatherford Cothran in Columbia, Tennessee.

Melissa Gail Cothran, age 43, of Mount Pleasant passed away on Sunday, August 5, 2018.

The family will visit with friends on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 from 4:00 to 9:00 PM at Williams Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant. Funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at 1:00 PM and burial will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens. Andy Pogue, Randy McNeece, will be officiating.

In addition to her parents, Melissa is survived by her brother, Ricky (Ginger) Cothran of Mount Pleasant; Fiancé of 27 years, Michael Davis of Mount Pleasant; Special family members, Aaron & Clara Woodard, Elizabeth Kirtley Pevahouse, and Emily Kirtley; and her beloved Border Collie, Hank.

Pallbearers will be Tim Rail, Larry Brown, Robbie Dugger, John Harris, Darryl Haywood, Alex Cervantes, John Floyd, and Scotty Isabell. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Choksi, Tommy Marshall, James Kittrell, Tim Dickey, Stephen Davis, The Gray Family, Eric Spurgeon, Men of Spencer Hill Church of Christ, All the the drivers & crew members of Thunderhill Raceway, Robin Lemay & Her entire Endoscopy Family, Yogi Cates, Jason Kelly, Brent Cockrell, Nathan Rail, and Jeremy Rail.
