Anthony “Tony” Jackson Montgomery – Obituary

Anthony “Tony” Jackson Montgomery, 52, of Moulton passed away Friday, August 3, 2018 at Decatur Morgan Hospital. Visitation will be from 2 till 4 on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at Hatton Church of Christ. The funeral service will follow at 4 p.m. at the church with Chris Miller and Ben Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Landersville Church of Christ Cemetery with military honors. Lawrence Funeral Home is assisting the family.

A 1984 graduate of Mt. Hope High School, Tony was a member of the Landersville and Hatton Churches of Christ. He was a veteran of the US Navy serving as a Sonar Tech on the USS Trepang during Desert Storm. Tony retired from BP Chemicals as a Maintenance Coordinator. He loved his family and church family, Alabama football, hunting, fishing and entertaining with his shrimp boils. He also loved helping others.

Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Lynn Holland Montgomery; children, Colt Montgomery and Rachel Speegle; grandchildren, Brody Walker and Ella-Faith Speegle; mother, Donna Eddy (Shirley); father, EJ Montgomery; brothers, Jimmy Montgomery and Keith Montgomery; sister, Alison Nolen; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Ben Phillips, Keith Montgomery, Jimmy Montgomery, Marlon Rutherford, Ben Patterson, Lloyd Alexander, Tab Garrison, Jeff Britnell. Honorary pall bearers are Harold Martin, Jimmy Ray Montgomery, Ronnie Smith, Steven Borden, and Terry Joe Mardis.

The family extends special thanks to the Vanderbilt Medical Hospital: the late Dr. Kevin McDonagh, Dr. Bipin Savani, Melissa Logue, CRNP and all their colleagues; Greg Miles and his staff at Integrity Therapy in Florence; and special thanks to Dr. Neil Roberts at Decatur Morgan Hospital.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Tony’s memory.
