Irene Kurasaka Mitchell Rayburn Barnes, age 86, of Hamilton, Alabama, passed away Thursday, August 2nd, 2018 at her residence.

Visitation, Monday, August 6th, 2018 at 6 PM Marion County Funeral Home. The service will be Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at 3:00 PM in the Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor John Holiday, Max Frye, and John McCart officiating. Burial in Love Joy Cemetery, Hamilton, Marion County, Alabama.

Irene was born on Sunday, April 10th, 1932 in Hamilton Alabama to Minnie Green Kurasaka and Sego Kurasaka. She was a member of the Hamilton Church of Christ. Her hobbies were reading, crocheting, traveling, and teaching her family about plants and animals. She loved the outdoors, walking in the woods, and growing flowers. Irene virtually raised her children by herself.

She is survived by granddaughter, Penny (Chris) Elledge, daughter of son Robert William Mitchell, Tony Rayburn, Vanessa (John) McCart, Linda (Len) Hertzing, and Paulette (Ray) Moore; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Joan Cox, Marie Jones, Janette (Sam) Moyer; brothers, Douglas (Janice) Kurasaka, Dwight Kurasaka, Gerald Dwayne (Joan) Kurasaka; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Robert Earl Mitchell, L.V. Rayburn, and Wayman Paul Barnes; her parents, Sego Kurasaka and Minnie Green Kurasaka; son Robert William Mitchell; and sister Jean Kurasaka McCurdy.
