TUPELO, MS- The Natchez Trace Parkway invites children and their families to “Boatmen of the Natchez Trace,” a special Junior Ranger program held on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at 10:00 am.  Did you know that in the early 1800s men would walk over 500 miles of the Old Natchez Trace? Boatmen, men from the Ohio River Valley, would float down the Mississippi River on barges, sell their goods in Natchez, Mississippi and then walk home on the Natchez Trace. Join a park ranger for this 45-minute program to discover what these men might have carried on their journey home. This free hands-on program is ideal for children 7 to 12 years old, but all ages are welcome.

The Parkway Visitor Center is located at milepost 266 on the Natchez Trace Parkway, near Tupelo, Mississippi. For additional information, please call (800) 305-7417.
