Funeral services for Mr. Merrel Austin, age 69, are scheduled for 3:30 PM, Thursday, August 2, 2018 in the chapel of Pafford Funeral Home in Scotts Hill. Interment will follow in Cedar Grove Baptist Cemetery. Mr. Austin passed away Tuesday in Jackson. He was born December 30, 1948 in Henderson County to the late Paul and Opal Smith Austin. He was a retired bus driver and a member of Scotts Hill Baptist Church. He loved spending time with his family, friends, and trail riding. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Mrs. Susan Kennedy Austin; his son, Brian Austin (Codi); three brothers, Charles Austin, Harold Austin (Wanda), and James Austin (Ginny); one sister, Peggy Brasher (Roy); one grandson, Ty Austin; and two special friends, Dwayne White and Ray “Hootie” McCay. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be sent to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
