Publix held a hiring fair Tuesday at Conference Center.

FLORENCE – The Shoals’ first Publix Supermarket is slated to open December 12. Today, the company, which is employee-owned, began interviewing employee candidates at The Marriott Shoals Conference Center.

Even though the formal opening wasn’t until 10 o’clock, many job seekers were in the parking lot well before 8:00 this morning. “I just wanted to be near the front of the line,” one person told The Quad-Cities Daily. “Publix is a great place to work and I’ve heard that their pay and benefits package is real good.” Another prospective employee said, “Right now, I am working at Walmart. Please don’t identify me.”
