VINA-In December of 2016 Vina High School was hit by a tornado that destroyed the Science Room and Band Hall.

On Monday, July 23 the demolition began on the damaged building to make way for construction of the new Science and Band Hall building.  Due to the diligent work of the Alabama Legislative the monies for the new building was made possible.  This funding was provided, due in a large part to Representative Johnny Mack Morrow.

Rep Morrow who was present for the demolition  along with Greg Hamilton and Brent Gillespie, new Vina High School principal said, “I again want to thank all my Legislative friends who helped me secure the funding for this project! I especially would like to thank the members of the Education Ways and Means Committee in the House for their help. This is where the funding started. I have known these individuals for years and have helped them with their projects and now they are helping me. That’s the way its suppose to work! Republicans and democrats working together to help each other! Congratulations to the people of Vina and especially to the students, faculty and staff at Vina High School.”
