George William Hughes – Obituary

George William Hughes, 91 of Arab, passed away Saturday July 21, 2018 at his residence.
Mr. Hughes was born August 12, 1926 in Morton Mississippi to Marvin E. Hughes and Fannie Laura Holmes Hughes. He served in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force during WWII and the Korean War. He worked as a mechanic for Heat and Frost Asbestos Workers Union Local 114 until he retired. He was married to Emma Louise Pollock for 70 years. Mr. Hughes moved to Arab from Jackson Mississippi in 1989. He was of the Baptist Faith. Enjoyed fishing, working in his yard and loved working on old cars and anything broken.
He is survived by his wife: Louise Hughes; his son and daughter-in-law: William Edward Hughes and Cheryl; his daughters and son-in-law: Sandra Kay Alexander and Glen and Teresa Ann Hughes; his grandchildren: Sarah Ann Kritner and Justin, Cody Brock Hughes and Dylan Hunter Hughes and his great grandchild: Luke David Kritner. He was preceded in death by eleven siblings.
Graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday July 23, 2018 at Arab Memorial Cemetery with Brother Randy Blakely, officiating and Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, directing.
