Therese “Penni” Nelson, 84, of Bolivar, departed this life Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.

The widow of Bob Johnston, and Stan Nelson, she was a retired nurse, having worked in California for many years. She was born october 3, 1933, in Fresno, California, daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin Stobaugh and Ruth Spires Stobaugh and moved to Hardeman County in 1989. She loved crocheting, watching CNN, listening to music, and dancing. She was Catholic, Baptist and a Christian.

Survivors include two daughters, Cathy Vandiver (Curtis) of Hornsby and Joy Pimentel (Larry) of California; a son, Ricky Robert Johnston of Bolivar; 7 grandchildren, Jenica Howard, Jacob and Zachary Vandiver, Ashley Johnston, Cathy McFadon, Carla Petersdorf and Michelle Barber; and 7 great grandchildren, Samuel, Bella, Lucy, Zachary, Nathan, Keegan and Caitlin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Martha J. Stobaugh, Alice Stobaugh and Edna Earl Stobaugh; and 2 brothers, Franklin and William O. Stobaugh.
