Stutts trounces Lolley in Republican Primary runoff – On to the General Election in November

COLBERT COUNTY – Incumbent State Senator Larry Stutts (R) won a resounding runoff victory against Steve Lolley in Tuesday’s runoff election. At stake was the opportunity to meet State Representative Johnny Mack Morrow (D) in November’s General Election.

Stutts, who is serving his first term as State Senator, soundly defeated political neophyte Steve Lolley with 5,733 votes. Lolley garnered 4,907 votes. When the first results began to talley-up, Lolley took an early lead. These votes were coming in from his home region near Guin. He actually defeated Stutts in Franklin and Marion Counties. However, when the votes from Colbert County began adding up, the election shifted in Stutts’ direction and he finished up the runoff with a resounding victory.

The race for November begins in earnest today. It is expected to be a vigorous campaign for State Senate District 6, as the two candidates hold vastly different views on many issues affecting Alabamians. the General Election is set for November 6.
