Mary Elizabeth Finley Hubbell – Obituary

Mary Elizabeth Finley Hubbell sang in the heavenly choir for the first time on Saturday, July 14, 2018. She was born in Hot Springs, Arkansas, on February 22, 1919, to Arthur and Mary Finley. She lived 99 plus years.

The funeral service will be Tuesday, July 17, 2018, at 12:00 p.m., at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. Reverend E.M. “Doc” Shell will officiate. The family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Sheffield.

Her children are daughter, Linda Beth Hubbell Burns (Benny), and son, William Bryan Hubbell. Bill is serving on the mission field in Guatemala this summer.

Her grandchildren are Jonathan “J.B.” Hubbell (Jessica), Casey Hubbell (Nicole), Julie Groves (Tad), Emily Matherne (deceased), Mac Burns (Heather), and Marikay Cooley (Stacey), and eleven great grandchildren. Mary was blessed with five brothers, “Pat” Finley, and four deceased brothers, Joseph, Sloan, Billy Gene, and Arto Finley.

Mary Elizabeth taught school for 39 years including at R.E. Thompson, Northside, and Southside schools. She graduated from Arkansas College.
Music has always been the joy of her life and the gift that God blessed her with. She was directing the choir, teaching Sunday school, and playing the piano at Highland Methodist even up in her early 90’s. She directed choirs and plays for all ages. Children loved Mrs. HUBBELL.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Sheffield.
