Florence, Alabama – Another great First Friday in downtown Florence is in the books. The weather was delightful, not to hot nor to cold. The crowd was large and folks were having a great time taking in all the sights.

There was a pumpkin painting where kids could paint their Halloween pumpkin with a face only they could love. Then there was the pumpkin display with all the nifty carvings on them. Fall was definitely showing itself with the weather changing and the pumpkins on display.

The UNA Sororities were out in force promoting Breast Cancer Aware Week with their “Think Pink” party.

And, not to be out done by New York City dropping a crystal ball on New Year’s Eve, Florence had the “First Friday Pumpkin Drop”. A 300 lb. Pumpkin was raised in the air appox. 20 ft. and then dropped. It landed with a soild “thud” but much to the crowd’s disappointment didn’t splatter they way they had hoped.

And then if that wasn’t enough, Princess Sonica (The Rescue Pink Rubber Ducky) made her debut. All of the pretty girls in pink just thought she was adorable with her little tiara on. Even some of the guys got in the act. The Princess was so popular she now has her own Facebook page where she’ll be posting the different events she’ll be attending. Check her out on Facebook and give her a “Like”.

The Quad-Cities Daily was there, of course, taking photos. And you can find them right here!
