Ruthie Bell Hester Reid – Obituary

Ruthie Bell Hester Reid, of Tuscumbia, passed away on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at the age of 89. Her visitation will be today, July 13, 2018 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will be Saturday, July 14, 2018 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Howell Bigham and Gerald Sockwell officiating. She will be buried in Colbert Memorial Gardens.

She was a native of Colbert County and a retired school bus driver. She was a member of Frankfort Road Church of Christ. Ruth was the wife of the late Johnnie Reid for 62 years. She was the #1 Braves fan and loved cooking and gardening. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed babysitting them. She will be missed by all who knew her. Ruth was also preceded in death by her sisters, Flossie Powell and Amye McKinney; and her parents, Amos Edward and Leary Alice Hester.

Those left to mourn her loss and cherish her memory are her children, Darrell Reid (Deborah), Zita Buford (Paul) and Robbin Hollimon (Scott); grandchildren, Deahna Jackson (Terry), Deidra Brewer (Chad), Pete Waldrep (Ashley), Jonathan Buford, Blake Hollimon and Justin Buford; great-grandchildren, Terah Jackson, Brooklyn Brewer, Teliah Jackson, Blayden Brewer, Jayci Waldrep and Houston Waldrep; brother, James Hester (Christine); sister, Janice Henson; and brother-in-law, Hoyt McKinney.

The family would like to thank Dr. Brad McNally, the staff of Cypress Cove and the staffs of the 3rd and 4th floor at Hellen Keller.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Pete Waldrep, Blake Hollimon, Jonathan Buford, Justin Buford, Terry Jackson and Chad Brewer.
