William Helm “Billy” Walker, Sr. age 89 of Franklin, TN passed away July 12, 2018. Veteran of the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Graduate of Battle Ground Academy. He attended David Lipscomb College then graduated from the Bowling Green Business University. He was a former elder at Fourth Avenue Church of Christ. Owner and operator for many years with Walker Chevrolet. He received his 50 year dealer recognition from General Motors and he served on various local and national committees in the automotive dealership industry. He was also a dedicated Boy Scout leader for several years. He was an Eagle Scout Honoree and recipient of the Silver Beaver Award. At the Boxwell Boy Scout Reservation, Billy was instrumental in establishing the COPE Course which is named in his honor. He was active in the community and served as Past President of the Franklin Noon Rotary Club and was a recipient of the Paul Harris Fellow; Past Chairman of the Williamson County United Way; Past President of the Williamson County Chamber of Commerce where he was presented the Legends Award for his service to Williamson County. Survived by: wife of 65 years, Louise Clay Walker; sons, William H. Walker, Jr., James Clay Walker, Robert Louis Walker and John Stewart (Kimberly) Walker, Sr.; grandchildren, Amanda (Chase) Young, William Walker III, Josh Walker, Hannah Walker, Tori Walker, Madi Walker and John Walker, Jr.; great grandchildren, Parker Benefield and Annalise Walker. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Sunday, July 15, 2018 at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home, Perry Cotham, Jim Taylor and Steve Blackman officiating. Interment Mt. Hope Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Boy Scout Troop 137. Honorary pallbearers will be Employees of Walker Chevrolet and Franklin Noon Rotary Club members. Memorials may be made to the Members of Churches of Christ in Scouting, Boy Scout Troop 137 or Heritage Church of Christ.
