Ernest Whitman Harper, Jr. – Obituary

 Ernest Whitman Harper, Jr. passed away Wednesday. Mr. Harper served in the US Navy during WWII in the Asian Pacific Theatre on both the USS Columbus and USS Boston. He retired as a Graphic Designer from NASA.

He was preceded in death by his first wife of 40 years, Irene Murphy, and daughter, Beth Harper.

Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Julia Harper; children, Margaret Mays (Steve), Traci Pritchett, and Donald Pritchett (Mary); sisters, Lydia Gnutti and Louise Powell; brother, Charles Harper; granddaughter, Shannon Schofield (Pete); and great-grandchildren, Jacob, Alexander, Collin, and Jeremiah.

A graveside service will be held at 8:30 a.m. Monday, July 16 at Huntsville Memory Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
