Alma Ruth Gilbert departed this life on July 11, 2018 at Southern Tennessee regional Hospital in Pulaski, Tn. She was born on January 24th, 1945 in Giles County to the late Charlie and Alma Houston.
Ruth grew up in Pulaski where she attended Bridgeforth School. Ruth accepted Christ as Lord and Savior and joined Old Mount Zion under the late Rev. Dalton Holt. She then later moved her membership to Chestnut Grove Community Church under the late Rev. Walter Coleman. She served as a faithful member until her health began to fall. She was a Sunday school teacher and sang in the choir.
Ruth was employed by Hillside Hospital where she retired. Upon her retirement she helped to take care of her grandchildren which she loved dearly. Ruth never met a stranger and loved doing the work of the Lord. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Visitation will be 4 o’clock until 7 o’clock Friday, July 13th, 2018 at Bennett-May-Giles County Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be 12 o’clock Saturday, July 14th, 2018, in the chapel of Bennett-May-Giles County Funeral Home.
The burial will follow in the Gilbert Cemetery in prospect, TN.
Preceded in death by: Husband, Ezell Gilbert. Sister, Pearl Hammonds. Brother, Charlie Houston Jr.
