Funeral services for Carl Daniel “Danny” Moncus, age 69 of Cragford, will be held on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church (South) with Rev. Alan Hurst and Rev. Zenus Windsor officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery.
Mr. Moncus passed away on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at his residence. He was a native and life-long resident of Clay County and a graduate of Mellow Valley High School “Class of 1967”. Danny worked for Clegg Manufacturing, Cash & Carry Hardware and later retired from Traylor’s Nursing Home where he worked in maintenance. He took care of the yardwork at Mt. Olive Baptist Church (South) where he was a member and was always willing to help anyone in need. Danny especially loved his “fur babies” that he had raised over the years.
Mr. Moncus is survived by his wife, Jean Ford Moncus of Cragford; one step-daughter, Crystal Phillips of Mellow Valley and one step-son, Terry Ginn Jr. of Talladega; two sisters: Judy Knight (Manley) of Cragford and Phyllis Hall of Lawrenceville, GA; one brother, Larry Moncus (Marlene) of Mellow Valley; five step-grandchildren and 6 step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Albert C. Moncus and Katherine Elizabeth Caldwell Moncus and one brother, Kenneth “Butch” Moncus.
Pallbearers will be Steve Moncus, Ricky Moncus, Greg Moncus, Austin Knight, Billy Chappell and Billy Joe Danford.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville. Mr. Moncus will lie in state at the church from 12:30 until service time at the church on Thursday.
