Kathryn Jo Harkleroad left us on Sunday, July 8th. She was born on July 9, 1955 in Great Falls, Montana. Kathy was the eldest of her family and took this role quite seriously. However, even in their more advanced ages you could still expect childish antics and laughter whenever two or more of the Brown siblings were in the same room. Kathy was a very active voice in the Crazy Yorker Ladies Facebook group. She had three wonderful fur children, Riley, Ana and Boomer.

Kathy had spent a number of years in a journalism career following her completion of a Mass Communication college degree. Kathy had a very creative mind, with her main love being scrapbooking and paper crafts. Many of us have been blessed with Kathy’s special love in cards and notes she had made for us.

Kathy was a proud Military wife of 27 years to her husband, Jerry Harkleroad. Her daughter, Jessica Yancey of Philadelphia was her pride and joy. She also had three stepchildren, Scott Harkleroad, Paul Harkleroad and Adriane Ortiz. Kathy was the eldest sister to Kenneth Brown, Bell FL, Karen Settle, Niwot, CO, and Kathleen McCallister, Firestone, CO. Kathy also leaves behind nephews, Adam Sherman, Alexander Sherman, Richard McCallister (Lee), Kevin Brown, and Christophe; and niece, Amanda Sherman. Kathy was preceded in death by her father, Robert E. Brown, mother, Marilynn F. Brown, and her youngest sister, Kimberly Taylor.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow in the chapel with Chaplain Richard Browning officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Flying Fur Animal Rescue.
