Lawrence Ellwyn Johnson – Obituary

Lawrence Ellwyn Johnson, 61, of Cherokee, passed away Sunday, July 8, 2018. His funeral service will be Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at 3:30 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Cherokee, with Brother Micah Booth officiating. Burial will follow in Cherokee Memorial Park.

Lawrence was a member of Barton First Baptist Church and a member of the Carpenters Local 1209. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and son. He was an avid fisherman, gardener, outdoorsman, and an Alabama Crimson Tide fan.

Lawrence is preceded in death by his father, Herbert Johnson; father-in-law, Jimmy Murphy; and his grandparents, Ernest and Eva Richardson, and Bevely and Florence Johnson.

He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Wanda Johnson; his mother, Nova Jean Johnson; his daughters, Jenifer Johnson and Hope Johnson; his sister, Donna Mayes (Ralph); mother-in-law, Nell Murphy; brother-in-law, Mark Murphy (Tracy); and multiple nieces and nephews.

His pallbearers will be Corey Mayes, Mark Murphy, Troy Tucker, Sambo Hogeland, John Foreman and Gary Welch.
