Richard (Dick) Felix Maroon was born June 5, 1938, in Waterville, ME, and died on July 7, 2018, in Huntsville, AL.

He was predeceased by his parents Elias and Mary Peters Maroon, of Bozrah, CT.

Survivors are his wife of 35 years, Karen Miller Maroon; his son Michael and daughter-in-law, Michelle Hebert Maroon; daughter Diane Maroon Kalsow, and son-in-law Larry Kalsow of Jacksonville, NC; his sisters Donna Maroon Carter of Montville, CT, and Therese Maroon Smith of Voluntown, CT, and three nephews and two great nephews and one great niece and numerous cousins.
Dick retired from federal civil service employment in December 1997. Prior to his civil service employment he served in the US Army for ten years.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing in his younger days, but his real joy was crafting extraordinary wooden toys in his workshop that he gave away each December to various charities and childrens’ hospitals. His toys were loving works of art that could have brought him awards and commissions, but his heart’s ambition was larger than that; he wanted to earn the smiles of children. Many local children have been recipients of his toys and he loved giving them away.

He was proud of his Lebanese heritage and his Maine heritage.
