Evonne Jeanette Jorgenson Leiske – Obituary

Evonne Jeanette Jorgenson Leiske, age 80, passed away on July 3, 2018 at a local hospital. Ms. Leiske was born in Missouri to Garfield and Hyllis Jorgenson. She worked as a registered dietitian at Loma Linda University.

Ms. Leiske was involved with the American Diabetics Association, was the president of the local chapter for a period of time, and was involved in the American Dietetic Association.  She truly had a passion for Diabetic Teaching for the patients and their families that she worked with over the years. Mrs. Leiske believed very strongly that with better Diabetic Teaching diabeties could be better controlled and worked hard to make a difference. She was supportive of World Vision and Babies Born with Aids in Africa and she often sent them supplies. She was a member of the Huntsville Central Seventh Day Adventist Church.

Ms. Leiske was preceded in death by her parents Garfield and Hyllis Hauk Jorgenson.

She is survived by her son Dr. Douglas Leiske (Crista); daughters Kelly Ann Riley (Richard) and Kerry Lyn Lentz  (Greg); brother Garfield Jorgenson Jr.;  best friend Sherri Landis; grandchildren Ashlyn, Austin, Cody, Colton, Asher, Warren, Gabriella, Zach, Zander and Matthew and five great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at 6:30 pm at Huntsville Central Seventh Day Adventist. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation in her memory.
