Laverne Northcutt Strickland – Obituary

Laverne Northcutt Strickland, 90, passed away Saturday, July 7, 2018 at ECM Hospital.  She was born in Itawamba County, MS to Houston Irvin and Effie Jane Montgomery Northcutt.  She was a member of Old Bethel Methodist Church where she was a children’s Sunday school teacher.  She was retired from banking and was a former headstart teacher.

Services will be Monday, July 9, 2 p.m. at Old Bethel Methodist Church with Rev. Phillip Box and Bro. Steve Kennedy officiating.  Burial will be in Old Bethel Methodist Church.  Deaton Funeral Home, Belmont, MS will be in charge of arrangements.

She is survived by her son-Jerry Strickland and wife Phyllis of Fulton; two granddaughters-Jenny Jenkins and husband Doug and Becky Carsten and husband Beau all of Fulton; one great-granddaughter-Emma Jayne Carsten; her sister-Louise Northcutt of Golden and her sister-in-law-Ellen Barnes of Tupelo.

She was preceded in death by her husband-Charles Allen Strickland; her parents and one brother-James Northcutt.

Pallbearers will be Doug Jenkins, Beau Carsten, Buddy Wiltshire, Rudy Beam, Gary Beam and Greg Collier.

Visitation will be Monday, July 9, 1-2 p.m. at Old Bethel Methodist Church.
