Gerald Wayne Hankins, 57, of Arab, passed away Friday July 6, 2018 at Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Georgia.
Mr. Hankins was born July 24, 1960 in Marshall County to Wendell Coy Hankins and Mary Gladys Waldrop Hankins. He served in the Alabama National Guard for 9 years and was employed by BASF in Madison as a welder. He and the former Cathy Marie Jarrett were married for 38 years. He enjoyed fishing, working in his shop on upholstery and cars. He dearly loved spending time his granddaughter, Madisyn.
Mr. Hankins was a member of New Canaan Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Cathy Hankins; his son and daughter-in-law: Nathan and Christina Hankins; his granddaughter: Madisyn; his brothers and sisters-in-law: Wendell Coy Hankins Jr. and Pat, Jerry Hankins and Patricia; his sisters and brothers-in-law: Hazel Cobb, Juanita Steele and Doug and Vickie Golden and Danny. He was preceded in death by his parents: Wendell Coy and Mary Gladys Hankins and his brother: Clifford Hankins.
Funeral service will be 4:00 p.m. Monday July 9, 2018 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel with Brothers: Jerry Burgett and Clint Maze, officiating. Burial will be in Arab Memorial Cemetery with Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, directing.
Pallbearers will be Nathan Hankins, Johnny Childers, Marty Jarrett, Matthew Jarrett, Jason Hyatt, Eric Limbaugh and Doug Steele.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Anthony Hyatt, Chris Maggio, Danny Golden and Jason Morgan.
Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Monday July 9, 2018 prior to the service.
