Gaylon Herbert Gray – Obituary

Gaylon Herbert Gray, age 77, of Lexington, passed away Friday, July 6, 2018. Visitation will be Monday, July 9th, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Center Star Church of Christ. The service will be Tuesday, July 10th at 1 p.m. at the church with Brother Bill Lyons and Eddie Behel officiating. He will lie-in-state from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the church. Burial will be at Antioch Cemetery in Center Star.

Pallbearers are Shannon Durham, Dustin Durham, David Gray, Jonathan Gray, Alan Lash, and Jason Johnson. Honorary pallbearers are Shannon Johnson, Danny Stafford, Larry Johnson, Larry McGee, B.H. Parker, and Neal McGee.

Gaylon was a member of Center Star Church of Christ where he had served as a Deacon. He was retired with the Lauderdale County Board of Education and was a former member of the Carpenters Union. He was very active in the Senior Citizens of Lexington. He was very active in the Pee Wee Football Association and the Boosters Club of Lexington in his earlier years.

He was preceded in death by his father, Fowler Herbert Gray and an infant brother.

Survivors are his loving wife of 57 years, Rose (Parker) Gray; mother, Annie Vella (McGee) Gray; daughter, Lawanda Corum (Junior), Vance Gray, Phillip Gray (Sharon Hendrix); brother, Dwight Gray (Jean); sister, Sandra White (Lionel); grandchildren, Sydney Corum and Kendyll Corum; stepgrandchildren, Dustin Durham (Natasha) and Shannon Durham (Jamie); stepgreat-grandchildren, Mason Durham, Noah Durham, Penny Durham, Aurora Brown, Ace Vinson, and Liam Logston.

Memorial may be made to the Lexington Senior Citizens Center.
