Charles Willis Gist, Jr., of Sheffield, passed away on Wednesday, July 4, 2018 at the age of 76. His visitation will be Saturday, July 7, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the Sheffield First Church of the Nazarene. His funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. with Bro. Howard Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens.
Charles was a native of Sheffield and a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during Vietnam. He retired as a machinist from Shoals Fabricating and was a member of the Sheffield First Church of the Nazarene.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nancy and Charles Willis Gist; sisters, Betty Jane Camadello and Carol Ann Melton; nephew, Brian Camadello; brothers-in-law, Sonny Camadello and Bill Snoddy; and special cousin, Peggy Gist.
Charles is survived by his brother, Gilbert Gist; sister, Nancy Snoddy; special niece and caregiver, Ann Stacy (Joe); nieces, Billie Sue Nuby (Glenn), Johanna Robertson (Harley), Elizabeth Stacy, Katharine Stacy and Alice Nuby; and nephews, Chris Nuby (Jane), Greg Nuby (Chelsy), Xander Robertson and Lucas Nuby.
Pallbearers will be Glenn Barnett, Gary Cox, Ken Nix, Glenn Nuby, Thomas Gilbert Osborn and Joe Stacy.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Amedisys Hospice and nurse Katie Looney for their love and excellent care.
