Athens Police Arrest Two Men Charged with Burglary and Possession Of A Forged Instrument

ATHENS-Athens Police Chief Floyd Johnson reports the arrest on Monday, July 2 of two suspects who have been charged with burglary and possession of a forged instrument:

“Yesterday morning the owner of Athens Muffler Center on Hwy 72 reported a burglary that had occurred between Saturday afternoon and yesterday morning. Taken were tools and customer checks. The tool was valued at $1110.00. Later yesterday afternoon Investigators Jonathan Caldwell and Mickey Hart arrested James Clemons and Demetrius King for the burglary of the muffler center. They were arrested at The Sleep Inn where they were

staying. Most of the tools and customers checks were recovered. Some of the checks had been changed and made out to Clemons.

Also yesterday morning the police department was notified of a burglary at The Budget Inn. The victim told officers he was sleeping when he woke up his wallet and cell phone was gone and the door to his room was open. Clemons and King were also arrested for this burglary.

Both Clemons and King were booked at the police department and transferred to the county jail. Both men were charged with one count of burglary 3rd degree, one count of burglary 2nd degree and two counts of possession of a forged instrument third degree. “
