Betty Ann Thomas – Obituary

A Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. Betty Ann Thomas, 80, formerly of Montgomery, will be noon Friday at United Pentecostal Jubilee House of Prayer with Bishop Thomas D. Strong officiating. The body will lie in repose one hour prior to the service with Reynolds Funeral Home directing. Interment will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Montgomery Memorial Cemetery.

Betty was born November 23, 1937 in Montgomery to the late M.C. Gray and Essie Lee Rivers Gray. She departed this life on June 24, 2018 in Decatur. At an early age she joined St. Jude Catholic Church and was currently a member of the Annunciation of The Lord Catholic Church in Decatur.

Mrs. Thomas received her formal education in Montgomery, Alabama and graduated from St. Jude Institute. She also graduated from John Patterson School of Nursing. She later received her Administration Degree from Auburn University in Montgomery. She worked for many years in the Greater Montgomery area as a nurse and retired from The Resurrection Nursing Home System as an administrator. After retirement, she relocated to Decatur. She was a loving and devoted mother, sister and friend. She will be missed by all that knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charlie Thomas and son, Charlie Thomas Jr.

She leaves to cherish her memory: four children, Jocelyn Covington, Stephanie Thomas, both of Decatur, Ingrid Hogan (Charles) of Arizona and Kimberly Jones (McKinley) of Decatur; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her siblings, Bernard Rivers of Montgomery, Carolyn Walls of Knoxville, Tennessee, Voncile Williams of Montgomery and Brenda J. Gray of Decatur and a host of other relatives and friends.
