Alma Prestage Grissom – Obituary

Alma Prestage Grissom, 92, a long-time resident of the Unity community area died peacefully at her home surrounded by her loved ones on June 26, 2018. Alma was born January 13, 1926, in Missouri to Troy Hopkins Prestage and Ben Prestage. She was married to Robert Earl Grissom on July 10, 1943. She was a homemaker when her children were young and worked many years at the Mantachie furniture factory. She was a member of Eggville Freewill Baptist Church. She enjoyed fishing, hunting, crocheting, and quilting.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 28, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Mantachie with Bro. Gerald Gann officiating. Burial will be in the Center Star Cemetery.

Survivors include three sons, Tim Grissom (Catherine), Duane Grissom, and Berwyn Grissom (Debbie), all of Unity; her grandchildren, Craig Grissom (Stacey) of Mooreville, Lance Grissom of Unity, Donna Carol Johnson (Derrick) of Pontotoc, Melissa Eaton of Saltillo, Robert Grissom of Mantachie, Lee Grissom (Clarissa) of New Albany, Dana Martin of Memphis, and Jason Berwyn Grissom (April ) of Saltillo; her great-grandchildren, Skylar Grissom, Haylie Huguley, Chasity Grissom, Zoe Grissom, Sophie Grissom, Marlee Lindsey, Rylee Eaton, Devan Johnson, Taylor Martin, Hannah Grissom, Landon Grissom, and Lydia Grissom; three great-great grandchildren; and her niece, Martha Jo Stancil of Mantachie.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 62 years, Robert Grissom; her son, Darrell Grissom; her grandsons, Nathan Grissom and Brian Grissom; and her sister, Sybil Wilburn.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 27, at the funeral home.
