Benny Wayne Wadkins, age 80 of Cherokee, passed away on Saturday, June 9, 2018. His visitation will be Friday, June 15, 2018 at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia from 6:00p.m. until 8:00p.m. His funeral service will be Saturday, June 16, 2018 at Mhoontown Methodist Church at 11:00 a.m. with Randy Burbank and Russell Romans officiating. He will lie-in-state from 10:00a.m. until 11:00a.m. Burial to follow in Smith Cemetery.
Benny was a native of Colbert County Alabama. He was a U.S. Army veteran and the owner and operator of Wadkins Farms, selling honey and molasses for many years. Benny was a member of Mhoontown Methodist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Stella Wadkins; one brother and three sisters.
He is survived by his son, William Wayne Wadkins (Amy); daughters, Stella Nancy Wadkins, Martha Pauline Wadkins Tanner (Andy); mother of his children, Martha Frances Wadkins; special friend, Martha Belue; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren with one on the way; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Jimmy Creasey, Michael Franks, Greg Bishop, Andy Tanner, Stanley King, and grandsons, Tyson Rippey, Bradley Rippey and Trav Brueckner. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Sherrill and Tony Gargis.
