On Saturday, June 9, 2018, heaven received the most beautiful, precious angel, Avelie “Lee” Marie Boudreaux Laws, age 69. She will continually smile down upon her devoted and loving husband of nearly 48 years, Stephen Wayne Laws; their adoring and beloved children, daughter Dawn DeBacker Young and husband Corby, son Stephen Laws II and wife Inna, daughter Amanda “Mandy” Hughes and husband Vance, daughter Megan Sharp and husband Ryan, and son Michael Laws; their cherished grandchildren, Alexander DeBacker and Kendall and Mackenzie Young, Christopher Laws, Sophie Celeste and Xavier Hughes, Jackson and Devin Sharp; their precious great-grandchildren, Tommy DeBacker and Jesse Laws; and their treasured extended family.

Born October 26, 1948, in Franklin, LA, Lee was the precious and beloved daughter of Beverly James “B.J.” (deceased) and Joy Feske Boudreaux (deceased) and dearest sister of Roy and Paul Boudreaux.  Raised in Monroe, LA, Lee graduated from Neville High School before going on to earn her Bachelor degree in Home Economics Education and English at Northeast Louisiana State College.  She then married her high school sweetheart, Steve, and together they raised their family as his career in the U.S. Army moved them to seven places before they finally settled in Huntsville, 28 years ago.  Lee was a person of great faith and a passionate, deeply devout member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, where she will be especially remembered as a devoted and treasured First Communion Sunday School teacher, vacation bible school and choir camp teacher, lector, mentor, and friend.  An active participant in her children’s and grandchildren’s varied interests and dreams through her constant support and sacrifices, Lee’s joy of life touched many through her time and support of various Boy Scout troops, a myriad of school activities and organizations, and her extensive work as leader of many Girl Scout troops.  Lee was a true light of Christ to all who know her, and she will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be from 6-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, 2018, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Huntsville, followed by praying of the rosary.  Funeral mass will be at Good Shepherd on Thursday, June 14, 2018, at 11 a.m.  Additional services will be held at her family home in Monroe, LA, where she will be buried.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lee’s name to Catholic Charities USA and/or the American Diabetes Association.
