Police Asking Public For Information Pertaining To Sunday Morning Homicide

FLORENCE-The Florence Police Department released a statement concerning the shooting that took place on Sunday, June 10 names of the deceased and the injured have been released.  The police are asking for any information the public might have pertaining to this case:

“At approximately 2:40 am, on 6/10/18, patrol unit heard gunshots coming from the Westmorland and Long Ln area. When officers arrived they found a B/M that had been shot laying in the street. Officers applied medical aid and he was transported to ECM and pronounced dead on arrival. Another other person was shot and transported to the ER via private vehicle before officer’s arrived, he was later transported to Huntsville Hospital and has been admitted. Several subjects were transported to the PD for questioning by detectives, they all have been released. No charges have been filled on anyone at this time. This is still an ongoing investigation and we are asking if anyone has any information that can assist with this investigation, please contact FPD Detective Bureau at (256) 768-2764 or text a tip to 274637 using keyword “FPDTIP”, plus the message. At this time, we do not have any photos of either person to release out of respect for the families.

The Deceased is Patton Shipley, 42 from Florence and in the Hospital is Howard Watkins, 42 from Florence.”
