Minnie Lois Yarbrough Neal – Obituary

Minnie Lois Yarbrough Neal died June 8, 2018. Minnie Lois was born on December 11, 1933, in Madison County where she lived her entire life.  She graduated from Huntsville High School and from Mount Vernon Junior College in Washington, D.C.

Minnie Lois was preceded in death by her parents John S. and Ada Rand Yarbrough; son Robert “Bud” Lowry, III; sister, Helen Y. Porter; and brother, John S. Yarbrough, III. She is survived by her husband, George William Neal; son, John Rand “Jack” Lowry: daughter, Elizabeth “Libby” Lowry Conklin; three grandchildren, John, David and Sarah Christopherson,; stepsons, George Neal, II, and James Neal (Mechelle) of Byron, GA; sister, Jesse Ann Jemison of Mountainbrook, AL; and daughter-in-law, Kathryn Kelly Lowry of Avondale, GA.

Minnie Lois was active in several civic organizations including the Huntsville Junior League, the Grace Club, and the Huntsville Garden Club. An avid flower lover and arranger, she was a charter member of the Flower Guild at the Church of the Nativity where she was a member.  Minnie Lois also worked for over twenty years with the Queen Ann’s Lace flower company.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 15, at Maple Hill Cemetery with the Reverends Rusty McCown and Virginia Monroe officiating.

In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to the Big Oak Ranch, the Flower Guild at the Church of the Nativity, the Alzheimer’s Association, or a charity of your choice.
