Wanda Gayle Thompson, age 63, of Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee, passed away on June 6, 2018 at Maury Regional Medical Center.

Wanda was born on August 5, 1954 in Pulaski, Tennessee to William Dean Thompson and Nellie Marie Woodard Thompson. Wanda was a long-time member of Sandy Hook Church of Christ. Wanda did more than just attend church, though. She lived her faith and showed her love for the Lord in many ways, but especially by caring for others. She loved others more than she loved herself. One example in particular shows her character: for many years, an elderly friend of hers with Alzheimer’s needed help and Wanda went to her house every morning and cooked breakfast for her. She continued this practice, even when her friend had to be admitted into a nursing home. She also chose a career in service, working as a caregiver in nursing homes and assisted living facilities. Wanda loved her family very much. She enjoyed cooking and visiting the Amish Community on Saturdays.

Left to cherish her memory are her siblings: Larry (Mary) Thompson and Brenda (David Lopp); nephew: Jessie Thompson; uncles: Virgil Stewart and Joe Woodard; and special friends: Kitty Wood, Linda Brawner and Danny (Kay) Wood

Funeral services for Wanda will be held on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Jeff Waldrop and Randy Kersey officiating. Burial will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at 1:00 p.m.

Eddie Bassham, Roy Fuller, Jessie Thompson, Virgil Stewart and Danny Wood will serve as pallbearers.
