Cleo Stockton Griffus – Obituary

Cleo Stockton Griffus, 89, died Saturday, June 2, 2018 at her residence. She was born March 4, 1929 to Cordelia and Andrew Stockton. She was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Decatur.

Services will be Friday, June 8, 2 p.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church, Vina, AL with Pastor Dale Dilbeck and Bro. Stan Reeves officiating. Burial will be in Ebenezer Cemetery, Vina, AL. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL will be in charge of arrangements.

She is survived by her husband of almost seventy-two years – J.W. Griffus; her daughter, Barbara Baccus and son-in-law, Bob Baccus of Braselton, GA; her daughter-in-law – Carla Griffus of Thompsons Station, TN; her grandson – Andrew Griffus of Johnson City, TN as well as other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her son, Steven Griffus.

Pallbearers will be nephews, Hank Johnson, Loyd Griffus, Arlie Griffus, Murv Elrod, Nelson Elrod and Danny Elrod.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Hospice of the Valley, P.O. Box 2745, Decatur, AL 35602.

The family extends special thanks to Hospice of the Valley, Nurse Nett Finnegan and caregiver, Tan Robinson.

Visitation will be Friday, June 8, 12:30 – 2 p.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church.
