CHEROKEE-Bright and early Saturday, June 2 the city of Cherokee held a Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting for their new Cherokee Kayak Trail at the Cherokee City Hall.

Patricia Montgomery who was instrumental in spearing the group that made the Cherokee Kayak Trail possible had this to say:

“I am truly grateful to be part of what Cherokee is doing, reaching out making a difference in their Community providing additional recreation and funding opportunities for their Town and those that would choose to visit Cherokee.  Mayor Terry Cosby, Troy Rutledge, Staff,  and the Parks and Recreation volunteers, everyone working together brought the Grand Opening of the Cherokee Kayak Trail.  Just so excited for the Town of Cherokee and the opportunities this will bring.”

Friends and family along with the Colbert County Tourism folks were on hand to cut the ribbon and welcome the first official Kayak Trail to Colbert County.

The Quad Cities Daily was on hand on capture the event in potos and we present them to you here
