Katie Alice Grissom Kimbrough – Obituary

Katie Alice Grissom Kimbrough passed away peacefully at her granddaughter’s home in Beechgrove, Tennessee on Friday June 1. She spent most of her life living on Hawk Pride Mountain near Tuscumbia.

She quietly accomplished many things in her 93 years. She was a young mother in 1943 when her husband was called to serve in World War II. After his return in 1945 the couple had three more children. She was a dedicated loving wife, mom and grandmother. In the 1970s she become a licensed practical nurse, which allowed her to begin a nursing career at Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital. She was a faithful servant and member of the Tuscumbia Church of Christ.

Alice is survived by her husband of 76 years, Sam Edward (S.E.) Kimbrough; her two children, Judy Roper and Hal (Karen) Kimbrough, both of Huntsville. Two children preceded her, Steve (Jeannette) Kimbrough and Don Kimbrough, both of Tuscumbia. She is also preceded by her parents, Terrell Jesse Grissom and Frances Katherine “Kate” Grissom of Tuscumbia as well as two brothers and three sisters. Alice leaves seven loving grandchildren and eight great- grandchildren.

Visitation will be at Tuscumbia Church of Christ Annex from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, June 3, 2018. Graveside service to follow at 3:30 p.m. at Colbert Memorial Gardens in Tuscumbia.
