Mavis Lucille Hooper – Obituary

Mavis Lucille Hooper, age 100, went home to be with her Lord in heaven, on Wednesday, May 30, 2018. Mavis was born at home in Pleasant Site, AL on October 20, 1917. She graduated from Cherokee School and retired from Blue Bell after more than 30 years. Mavis was a faithful member of the Belmont First United Methodist Church for over 50 years.

Funeral services will be Monday, June 4 at 3 p.m. at Belmont United Methodist Church with Bro. Greg Forbus and Rev. Robert Green officiating.  Burial will follow in Belmont Memory Gardens. Deaton Funeral Home of Belmont is in charge of arrangements.

She is survived by one brother, W.J. Hooper (Betty); two sisters, Adell Stanps and Flo Nelson; one son Bobby G. Green (Mary Jo); two grandchildren, Gina Brooks (Mike) and Rev. Robert Green (Susan); one step-grandson, Roy Eaton. Jr.; four great-grandchildren,  Matt Oakley, RJ Green, Haley Green, and Wesley Green and three great-great grandchildren, Jackson Oakley, Sawyer Oakley and Ellis Oakley.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Audie Hooper; her brothers, Jimmie Floyd Hooper and Jerry Lee Hooper and her sisters Mildred McDonald, Annie Jewel Woodis, Della Mae Epps, and Zora Lee Irvin.

Pallbearers will be John Hooper, Mike Hooper, Jason Hooper, Doug Epps, Eddie Nunley, Burt Nelson, and Jeff Hooper.

Visitation will be Monday, June 4, 2-3 p.m. at Belmont First United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, Mavis requested donations be made to Belmont First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 516, Belmont, MS 38827.
