John Matthew Reynolds – Obituary

John Matthew Reynolds, 84, of Huntsville, died peacefully at home on Monday, May 28, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Greenville, South Carolina to John Matthew and Mary Regina Reynolds. Mr. Reynolds graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1956 and then served in the U.S. Army stationed in France. After his military service concluded, Mr. Reynolds began his banking career at First National Bank in Memphis, Tennessee. It was at First National Bank that he met his wife Hilda Joyce Beach and they married in 1962.
He retired at age 70 from a successful career in commercial lending. He was a lifelong Catholic and a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
He was predeceased by his parents and sisters Mary Regina Reynolds Tyrrell (Bradenton, Florida) and Catherine Reynolds Manion (Evansville, Indiana).
Mr. Reynolds is survived by Hilda Beach Reynolds, his loving wife of 55 years, his three children, Paul (Sarah) Reynolds of Denver, Colorado; Karen (Gil) Nelson of Tallahassee, Florida and Laura (Jonathan) Dennis of Huntsville, his seven grandchildren: Jack, Evan, Ryan, Christopher, Tabitha, Patrick and Regina and his sister, Anne Pyron Reynolds of Destin, Florida.
Mr. Reynolds is best described as a genuine family man who lived his life for his family, always his first priority. He will be missed forever by Hilda, his children and grandchildren who loved him so very much.
The funeral mass will be held on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at 5:00pm at Holy Spirit Catholic Church and his final resting place will be at the Columbarium at Good Shepherd Catholic Church.
