Raymond Lee Medlin – Obituary

Funeral services for Mr. Raymond Lee Medlin, age 92, are scheduled for 11AM on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 in the Chapel of Pafford Funeral Home in Scotts Hill. Burial will follow in the Pafford Scotts Hill Cemetery. Mr. Medlin passed away on Saturday May 26, 2018 in Decatur Co. He was born November 24, 1925 in Sardis, TN to the late Sam and Lillie Weaver Medlin. Mr. Medlin enlisted in the U.S. Navy during WW II, at the age seventeen, and served for eight years. He was stationed aboard the U.S.S. New Jersey and other ships. He was both in the Atlantic and Pacific fleets, and during his enlistment he visited every port in the world. After his discharge from the Navy he moved to Aurora, Illinois, where he lived for many years before returning to the Scotts Hill area. Survived by a daughter, Bobbie Taylor (Larry) Gosnell of Elwood, Indiana, grandson Troy (Penny) Taylor, great grandchildren, Zachary K Taylor and Jessica Anne Taylor, and several nieces and nephews, especially including Jim (Lily) Medlin. Mr. Medlin was preceded in death by his wife, Jewel Monk Medlin, granddaughter, Melodi Anne Taylor, as well as sisters, Nell See, Jewel Kennedy, Edna Duck, Louise Duck, and brothers; Cleo, K.D., Glen, and Cecil Medlin.
